Residents, staff, board members and sponsors of Rocky Mountain Communities looked on as the Colorado Rockies played the Pittsburg Pirates on July 27 at Coors Field. Although the Rockies lost 4 to 2, all in attendance enjoyed themselves immensely. More than 30 families were "sponsored" by local businesses and most children present had never before attended a professional baseball game and were the Rockies’ most enthusiastic fans. Staff, board members, residents and sponsors became acquainted at a pre-game picnic followed by the game.
Rocky Mountain Communities, a non-profit organization, is home to 1,200 children under the ages of 18. Most families living in multi-family communities owned and managed by RMC earn 50% or less of the area's median income.
Sponsors of the Rockies Fundraising event include: IMA of Colorado; Public Service Credit Union; TerraFirma; Haynie & Company; FirstBank; Colorado Housing and Finance Authority; Apartment Realty Advisors; Better Business Bureau; Exterior Solutions Plus; Equinox Environmental; Faegre & Benson; High Plains Pest Management; and STC Carpet Care.
The event, grossing nearly $15,000, will help support programs and services for RMC's working families.
